Gilcimar has over 20 years of experience in the mining sector, working for major companies in defining and implementing business strategies with a focus on sustainability, environmental management, corporate social responsibility, and stakeholder engagement. He has strong multicultural experience leading teams and has lived and worked in diverse regions, including South America (Brazil, Chile, Peru), South Africa, Europe (United Kingdom and Finland), and Australia.
Throughout his career, he has held positions at companies such as MMX, Vale, Anglo American, and more recently, Vale Base Metals. He holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), a Master’s in Environmental Systems Analysis and Modeling from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), and an Executive MBA from Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC). He has also pursued advanced studies in Sustainability Management at the Universities of Cambridge and Queensland and earned a Bachelor’s in Sciences from Harvard Business School (Purpose and Profit – Creating Shared Value).
In addition to his executive career, he is a speleologist and a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analyst.
